The team identifies the problems that may cause sea pollution within the borders of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality with both notification and routine inspections, and carries out meticulous studies to eliminate the problems that may cause pollution in cooperation with the relevant institutions/organizations. Our staff, consisting of the Mavi Körfez-2 sea skimmer ship, Mavi Körfez-3 sea skimmer vessel, Çevre 1 boat, and our land crew, which works for our municipality, collects the garbage accumulated in the gulf from both land and sea every day.
Thanks to the Mavi Körfez 1 survey boat, the areas where the wastes are concentrated in the İç Körfez are determined and the pollution is intervened quickly.
The Mavi Körfez-2 sea skimmer, purchased in 2013, can also collect floating garbage on shallow coasts due to the very low water level and The Mavi Körfez-3 sea skimmer ship, which was purchased in March 2017, is equipped to collect floating wastes and to intervene in oil pollution that may occur in possible marine accidents.
There is also a hydraulic compression garbage truck with an onboard crane for the disposal of the garbage collected by the teams.
640 tons of floating garbage was collected from İzmir İç Körfez in 2018, 450 tons in 2019 and 280 tons until September 2020.
